News release City of Coos Bay. The City of Coos Bay authorized Benny Hempstead Excavating, Inc. to perform a sanitary sewer line replacement project on North 2nd Street. For safety reasons, this work will require closing North 2nd Street between Market Avenue and Commercial Avenue. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm July 25th thru August 11th. There will be no on street parking in this portion of North 2nd Street while the project is underway. The Contractor will work individually with the business to ensure safe entry and exiting during the road closure. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to please exercise caution within the construction zone and detour area.
