Coos History Museum to Host First Tuesday Talks Lecture Series in June; Guest Speaker: David George Gordon – Author, Speaker, and Sasquatch Scholar; Tuesday – June 5, 2018 – 6:00pm – 8:30pm. People in the Northwest have been reporting encounters with the Sasquatch—a hairy, eight to ten foot-tall hominid —for hundreds of years. Yet aside from a collection of large footprint casts and several fairly convincing eyewitness accounts, no scientifically accepted evidence has been offered to establish this being’s existence. David George Gordon will present “Sasquatch: Man-Ape or Myth?” during this illustrated talk at the Coos History Museum on Tuesday – June 5, 2018. Gordon will address ways to become an effective “citizen scientist,” gathering credible evidence that can be used to prove or disprove the Sasquatch’s existence. Audience members will be encouraged to tell their tales and share their experiences with this mysterious creature – a favorite part of this thought-provoking evening. David George Gordon is the author of The Sasquatch Seeker’s Field Manual: Using Citizen Science to Uncover North America’s Most Elusive Creature. An accomplished science communicator, he has spoken at the American Museum of Natural History, The Philadelphia Academy of Sciences, Yale University, the Smithsonian Institution and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museums in Hollywood and Times Square. Copies of David’s book will be available for purchase in the museum store. A book signing will follow the lecture. The lecture will begin at 6:30pm. The museum, galleries, and store will be open for extended hours during the event. Cost for the event is $7.00 for adults. Admission is free for museum members. In its second year, the First Tuesday Talks Lecture Series is a monthly event at the Coos History Museum. The First Thursday Talks Lecture Series is hosted February through June, and August through December. The series is sponsored by Al Peirce Co with in-kind support from The Mill Casino.
