The South Coast Development Council (SCDC) in partnership with the Southwestern Oregon Food System Collaborative Seafood Project, a WealthWorks Northwest Model Project, is pleased to announce it will be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, October 19th at the Bandon Community Building, the Barn. This meeting will focus on a program called Dream$avers, a matching savings program, or Individual Development Account (IDA). NeighborWorks Umpqua provides this savings program for Coos, Curry and Douglas County and has agreed to partner with the Southwestern Oregon Food System Collaborative Seafood Project and SCDC to make available a set number of application spaces for both the 2015 and 2016 year. There are limited spaces available for both the agriculture industry and the seafood industry. Michelle Martin, Economic Development Specialist for SCDC and team leader for the Southwestern Oregon Seafood Project says, “This is a great opportunity for those working in either the seafood or agriculture system to start a savings program to use towards either their business, education, or home buying needs and have it matched through Dream$avers 3 dollars for every 1 dollar invested. There are not many opportunities like this available to our community”. SCDC would like to extend the invite to anyone interested in learning more about this program to attend the upcoming informational meeting next Monday, October 19th at the Bandon Community Center (The Barn) from 1:30pm until 3:00 pm. Chriset Palenshus with Neighborworks Umpqua’s Dream$avers Program will be here to explain how the program works and start the application process for those that are interested. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Michelle Martin by email at Michelle@scdcinc.org or by phone at 541.266.9753.
