A deceased Sea Lion, found on the beach near the North Jetty of the Coos Bay Channel Friday, July 8, did not die of a gunshot wound, but rather natural causes. A photo of the sea lion was sent to wildlife officials who investigated. A healed bullet hole was found in the carcass. Sea Lions are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972.
