Sunset Bay, CCSO release – On October 16, 2019, The Coos County Sheriff’s Office received information of a subject who failed to return from mushroom picking East of Norton Gulch near Sunset Bay State Park. Missing was Harriet Sagar 59 years of age of Coos Bay.The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Learned of the missing person after a friend reported that Harriet had gone out mushroom picking on the 15th of October and had failed to return. The Sheriff’s Office activated its Search and Rescue (SAR) team shortly after being notified and sent out Hasty Teams in the direction that Ms. Sagar had last been seen. The teams located Sagar at approximately 1:40 pm about two miles from where she had last been seen. She was cold and wet but otherwise unharmed. The Sheriff’s Office once again expresses gratitude to the dedicated volunteers of the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, and the other many organizations in the county that support life-safety missions. We would also like to recognize the accomplishment of K9 Augie who located Sagar. Nice work!
