The South Oregon Coast is gearing up for the travel/tourism season. According to a report in the “South Coast Labor Trends” monthly newsletter from the Oregon Employment Department, leisure and hospitality employment in Coos County gained 40 jobs during the month of March as part of the “ramp up for the season.” Coos County’s overall total payroll employment increased by 20 jobs during the month of March. Education and health services employment also added 20 jobs, while transportation, warehousing , and utility employment fell by 20 jobs. Curry County’s employment was unchanged in March. “Oregon’s seasonally adjusted monthly job gain of 7,500 in March was the largest since November 2005 when 9,300 jobs were added.”
