Coos Bay Shakespeare In The Park proudly announces auditions for its 2018 production of TWELFTH NIGHT by William Shakespeare. TWELFTH NIGHT, or What You Will, performs July 14th-22nd in Mingus Park, the location of last years epic HENRY V. The production is presented with the valuable support of the Coquille Tribal Community Fund and the public at large. Director John Beane has put out a call for all actors, tumblers, singers, and performers of all ages, genders and creeds for TWELFTH NIGHT. The shipwrecked twins, Viola and Sebastian, find themselves on the lost island of Illyria where a lovesick Duke rules over a fantasy land of swooning aristocrats, piggish drunks, swashbuckling vagabonds, bumbling fools and a very special Widow. TWELFTH NIGHT is a fantasy in the comic-romantic vein, with great pangs of music, destiny, adventure and desire. Seeking: (will consider any gender or race): VIOLA: The heroine who is shipwrecked and falls in love with a duke while in disguise as a boy. SEBASTIAN: Her plucky twin brother who has an adventure of his own. ORSINO: Duke of the isle, in love with love and Olivia and possibly Viola and.. OLIVIA: Mourning widow in the grand tradition, beautiful and wealthy and having to deal with all measure of suitors though she has vowed to stay in mourning. SIR TOBY: Falstaffian uncle to Olivia, king drinker, would be wise man, parter of fools and their money. AGUECHEEK: Young lord that is hopeful for Olivias hand through Toby,and is willing to fight, though not perhaps, and that’d be fine thank you. MARIA: The serving maid that knows what is what and helps cultivate a plan to ruin Malvolio, affected toward Toby. MALVOLIO: The tragicomic steadfast butler that ends up with delusions of grandeur when tricked by his confederates into thinking Olvia loves him. FESTE: A fool, a genie, the spirit of the island, sings, operatic, high energy. ANTONIO: A brigand on the run, swashbuckler, possibly a beast, impossibly devoted to Antonio AND: A fair phalanx of captains, bumblers, beasts, gardeners, secret masked police and other assorted marvels.
