Ship Owner Fined, August 1

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a $15,600 penalty to Tokyo-based Marine Ace Co. Ltd. for discharging prohibited ballast water into state waters from the company’s merchant ship `La Bamba’ in Portland on May 19. The vessel had been berthed at the Columbia Grain Facility Terminal 5 at 15550 N. Lombard St. when the discharge occurred.
