The Coos Co. Major Crime Team was activated after a 30-year old male was found shot on the streets of Powers early Sunday morning, March 18. According to a news release from District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, Emilio Pina was found to have a gun shot sould to the left neck/shoulder area. He was at first transported to Coquille Valley Hospital and later on to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay where he is expected to survive his wound. “Numerous persons have been interviewed including several eye witnesses to the shooting. Police have identified that person who shot Mr. Pina. We are not prepared to release his name at this time. This person and his family are cooperating in the investigation of this shooting.” The firearm believed to have been used has been located and seized. The case remains under investigation and will be presented to the Grand Jury in the near future.
