A project to replace the signal heads for both the northbound and southbound lanes of the US 101: Siuslaw River Bridge in Florence will result in a nighttime lane restriction for a single night. ODOT bridge crews will replace the old signals, and upgrade the mounting brackets and wiring to eliminate a winter maintenance problem with the old signals. The old signals swing in the wind, causing the wiring to break and the signal lights to fail during winter months. The new signals will have reinforced heads and the new mounting brackets will prevent the signals from moving in the wind. Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday night, June 4, 2015 and continuing until 5 a.m. Friday morning, June 5, ODOT crews will replace the signals. During the replacement, flaggers will control a single lane of travel over the bridge, creating delays of no more than 20 minutes.
