The third annual SkyWest Crossover Challenge basketball tournament between members of the Skyline Conference and the Far West League wrapped up Saturday with games at South Umpqua and Douglas. Marshfield’s boys had the early game at Douglas and downed Klamath Union 47-40, while Henley followed with a 48-42 win over Siuslaw. No other boys teams played on Saturday due to the concerns over the weather. The day before, on Friday, Henley beat So. Umpqua 58-51, No. Bend over Mazama 74-68, Siuslaw downed Hidden Valley 51-37, and North Valley topped Marshfield 49-41. Far West League plays opens this week with Marshfield (6-8) at Brookings-Harbor on Friday, but North Bend (8-4) has a makeup preseason game at Sutherlin on Tuesday. On the girl’s side Saturday, North Bend beat Klamath Union 57-40, while Marshfield fell in the final game of the two-day Challenger, 54-48 to Henley. Also on Saturday, Brookings-Harbor beat Siuslaw 51-29. The day before on Friday, North Bend beat Hidden Valley 49-39, and Marshfield over Mazama 36-32. In other games, North Valley beat So. Umpqua 51-32, Klamath Union over Siuslaw 39-35, and Henley beat Douglas 46-30. Marshfield (9-5) opens Far West League play at Brookings-Harbor Friday, while No. Bend (8-5) has a preseason makeup game at Sutherlin Tuesday.
