Small Plane crashes near Florence, June 16

For the second time in two-weeks, a small airplane has crashed on the Oregon Coast killing to people.  This time the wreck happened at Florence in western Lane Co. Sunday morning, June 15.  The small single-engine aircraft left the Florence Airport and crashed about 9:45 a.m., 300 to 500-yards into the Pacific Ocean off the Siuslaw River’s north jetty.  One person was recovered; however was announced deceased.  A search for the second passenger was underway by the U.S. Coast Guard, Siuslaw Fire and Rescue, and Lane Co. Sheriff’s Office personnel.  Debris from the wreckage has been reportedly washing ashore on the beach north of the crash site.  Another small plane wrecked May 31st at Toledo, after leaving Newport, killing the 51-yearold pilot and a four-year old girl.  Her 32-year old mother survived.
