SALEM, Ore. — Oregon’s Smoke Management Advisory Committee will meet virtually for the public Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Zoom conferencing information and agenda are posted at https://www.oregon.gov/odf/Board/Pages/SMAC.aspx Key agenda items include: Introduction of new committee members; Protection Division report including COVID-19, fire season, and funding; Budget and fund balance update; COVID-19 burn restrictions and fall burning; Grants and community response plans for prescribed fire smoke; Other housekeeping items. The public is invited to attend remotely via Zoom conferencing. There will be a period for public comment in the morning. Created by the Legislature in 1989, the five-member committee assists and advises the Oregon Department of Forestry in carrying out its Smoke Management Program. Members are appointed by the State Forester to serve a two-year term, which is renewable.
