ODF release – SALEM, Ore. — Oregon’s Smoke Management Advisory Committee will meet Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the ODF Headquarters, Building C, Tillamook Room, 2600 State Street, Salem. The committee’s agenda includes: Welcome and roll call; Committee and agency reports; Public comment; Opportunities and threats to prescribed fire; EPA National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) discussion; Overview of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s SensORs program; 2022 Burning, intrusion, and incident summary; West Bend status update; Metrics discussion; Community Response Plan development; Action item review. The meeting is open to the public to attend either in person or virtually. There will be a period for public comment in the morning. Created by the Legislature in 1989, the five-member committee assists and advises the Oregon Department of Forestry in carrying out its Smoke Management Program. Members are appointed by the State Forester to serve a two-year term, which is renewable.
