Beachgoers are reminded about “Sneaker Waves” along the Oregon Coast. This time of year, with rough ocean waters and extreme high tides pushing the sea water further up shore and dislodging driftwood, the danger of a log roll exists. Last Thursday, a male was hit and knocked down by a log at Bandon and another log rolled over a five-year old girl at Florence. Back in October, a young child was swept into the ocean by a sneaker wave at the mouth of the Yachats River, but quickly rescued. The National Weather Service has an advisory issued for the Oregon Coast and Southwest Washington as well.
