Snowstorm hits Oregon, Feb. 7

A winter snowstorm blew in off the Pacific Ocean and cut a swath from the Central Oregon Coast to the Willamette Valley before heading north for the Portland area. Various reports had five-inches accumulating in Corvallis, and seven in Albany. Interstate-5 struggled. There was a 20-car pileup reported between Albany and Salem. Schools were closed on the coast in Lincoln and Western Lane counties. Temperatures were in the upper 20s to low 30s between Newport and Florence. The Bay Area was wet with highs in the lower 40s.
