South Coast Community Barn Dance, March 7

When: Saturday Evening, MARCH 8, from 7:00PM to 10:00PM; Where: Greenacres Grange Hall, 93393 Greenacres Lane, Coos Bay, OR; Music by: THE SOUTH COAST OPEN BAND; Guest Caller: JAMES HUTSON from Los Angeles; Greenacres Barn Dance Mar. 8 Features Local Musicians. The South Coast Folk Society will host a public Barn Dance on Saturday evening, March 8, at the Greenacres Grange Hall. This month’s Barn Dance brings together talented musicians from throughout the South Coast for three hours of lively dance music. There will also be professional instruction for new dancers taught by our guest caller, James Hutson of Los Angeles. Barn dancing is a fun event for singles, couples and families. All ages are welcome. James Hutson has been a perennial favorite for our contra dances. He loves to create a joyous atmosphere and specializes in exciting, east-to-learn dances appropriate for all levels of experience. Fiddle players from Coos and Curry Counties are joined on stage this month by guitar, mandolin, piano, harpsicord and concertina players to create wonderful old-timey and celtic tunes perfect for dancing. It’s a special treat. Come join us. The Second-Saturday Barn Dance is sponsored by the non-profit South Coast Folk Society. The program includes contras, circle mixers, and a waltz or two. Refreshments are available. Doors open at 6:45PM. Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free. First timers who arrive in time for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their second dance. The dances are alcohol and fragrance free.
