The largest employment increases were estimated in leisure and hospitality (+40), and private education and health services (+30). Government employment added 50 jobs over the month. Local government excluding education and tribal gained 40 jobs over the month. Both federal and state government employment climbed by 10. Local education employment slipped by 20 jobs. Coos County payroll employment rose by 310 jobs over the past year. Gains were posted in transportation, warehousing, and utilities (+70); leisure and hospitality (+50); and manufacturing (+40). Industries with estimated job losses over the year were construction (-50), retail trade (-40), other services (-30), and financial activities (-20). Government employment climbed by 250 jobs with gains in local government excluding education and tribal (+110), Indian tribal (+90), and local government education (+30). Curry County payroll employment gained 50 jobs in March. Leisure and hospitality (+30), and local government excluding education services (+20) showed employment gains over the month. Over the past year, Curry County payroll employment fell by 50 jobs. Losses were estimated in leisure and hospitality (-110), financial activities (-20), and manufacturing (-20). A few industries added jobs since March 2022 including other services (+30), retail trade (+30), and health care (+20).
