The Coos Forest Protective Association, with forest protection responsibilities in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties since 1910, has enacted the 2024 Fire Season along the South Oregon Coast as of Friday, June 14, 2024. Backyard burning or debris burning is now off until this Fall. Last year, CFPA reported just over 1,000 acres blackened within the district from wildfires.
