Marshfield’s boys advanced to the championship semi-final round of the 2021 South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament with an 80-41 win over a short-handed Hidden Valley team in the opening round Thursday at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. The Mustangs, out of Grants Pass, only had five players available. Top-ranked Marshfield led from start to finish in picking up their fifth win of the season. The Pirates (5-1) will play Crook Co. 7 p.m., Friday, in the semi-finals. Marshfield’s girls fell 45-24 to Redmond in the first round. The Lady Pirates will play North Bend at 1:45 p.m. in the consolation semi-finals. The Bulldogs lost to Crook County 56-38.
