The first day of the Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament saw half of the local teams fall in first round games Thursday at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.  The Marshfield boys’ lost to Junction City in the final game, 50-43.  Coquille’s boys; however, advanced with a 61-46 win over Molalla, and North Bend beat Lebanon 52-37.  The other boy’s game saw McNary down North Eugene 77-55.  In the girl’s bracket, Marshfield beat North Salem55-36, while Junction City downed Myrtle Point 36-30, North Eugene over Coquille 54-45, and Crescent Valley beat Roosevelt 46-39.  Today’s matchups have Lebanon and North Eugene boys at 8:30 a.m., Coquille and Roosevelt’s girls at 10:15 a.m.  The mid-day games featured Marshfield’s boys against Molalla noon, followed by Myrtle Point and North Salem’s girls at 1:45 p.m.  The evening games on the championship bracket have North Bend and McNary’s boys at 3:30 p.m., North Eugene and Crescent Valley’s girls at 5:15 p.m., Coquille and Junction City boys at 7 p.m., and Marshfield and Junction City’s girls at 8:45 p.m.  The Marshfield Booster Club is also holding a steak dinner fund-raiser in the cafeteria beginning at 4 p.m.  Cost is $10 and it is open to everyone.
