South Coast Jobless Rates, Jan. 29

The unemployment rate in Southwest Oregon for the month of December 2020 was still higher than the previous year. According to numbers from the Oregon Employment Dept., in Coos Co. the unemployment rate in December was 6.4%, that’s up from 4.0% the previous year and 5.6% in December 2018. In Curry Co., the rate was 6.4%, up from 4.3% last year and 6.3% the prior year. In Douglas Co., the rate was 6.4% unemployed, up from 4.1% and 5.4%. Oregon overall saw an unemployment rate of 6.4% in December, higher than the 3.4% the previous year and 4.2% in 2018.
