Coos County payroll employment rose by 240 jobs in February, according to a report from the Oregon Employment Dept. in the monthly newsletter “South Coast Labor Trends.” A gain of 230 jobs in local government education accounted for most of the month’s job increase. Other industries showed mixed, but not unexpected trends for this time of the year. Over the year, the county added 280 jobs for a gain of 1.3 percent. Gains were modest but widespread among many industries. Curry County payroll employment rose by 60 jobs in February. Most industries showed very little employment change over the month. Over the year, Curry County added just 20 jobs, or a gain of 0.3 percent.
