Southern Oregon Fatality, May 10

On May 9, 2017, at approximately 9:50am, the Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 140 at the intersection of Kershaw Road. The crash scene is approximately three miles north east of Medford, in Jackson County. The preliminary investigation determined that 80 year old Allan CAMPBELL, of Medford, was operating a 2004 Ford pickup and was northbound on Kershaw Road. After stopping at the controlled intersection (stop sign) he proceeded north across Hwy 140. The operator of the 2001 Honda motorcycle, 21 year old Hunter HOEPTNER of Eagle Point, was westbound on Hwy 140 and as he approached the intersection, crashed into the side of the Ford. HOEPTNER was pronounced deceased on scene. CAMPBELL was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. The speed of the motorcycle is being considered as a factor in the crash.
