Southern Oregon Stabbing, Dec. 17

Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a 35-year old Grants Pass-area man Sunday following the stabbing of two people during a disturbance at a residence just north of Grants Pass in Josephine County. The two adult victims received non-life threatening injuries. Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division detectives are continuing the investigation.  On December 15, 2013 at approximately 4:27 a.m., OSP troopers were dispatched to a reported stabbing at 210 NW Woodbrook Drive near Grants Pass. Troopers and medical responders arrived and found ROBERT BARNES, age 43, and his wife, CYNTHIA BARNES, age 45, with non-life threatening stab wounds. Both were transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital for treatment.  Troopers secured the scene and requested assistance from OSP detectives. Preliminary investigation indicated the injured couple lived at the residence with suspect JASON BARNES, age 35, who was reportedly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. ROBERT BARNES was attempting to calm the suspect when he was stabbed in the abdomen. While trying to help ROBERT, CYNTHIA BARNES was stabbed in the upper leg.  JASON BARNES was arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Assault in the Second Degree (2 counts) and Unlawful Use/Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (2 counts).
