Southwestern Oregon Community College will be offering a new class fall term in Emergency Management. Incident Command and Emergency Management (EM-101) is a 4-credit course being taught Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:50 am in Sumner Hall 12 on the Coos campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. This course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS), National Interagency Incident Management System (NIIMS) and emergency management. ICS includes operational requirements, interactive components and procedures for organizing and operating an on-scene management system. This course is for anyone interested in training for emergency response. It is especially useful for students interested in law enforcement, fire science, emergency medicine or emergency management and for those who work in hospitals, or for organizations such as the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
