Southwestern Oregon Community College will be offering winter baseball camps the first weekend in January: January 7-8, 2017. Southwestern’s coaching staff along with selected Laker players will be offering an instructional youth baseball camp along with a prospect evaluation camp to athletes who desire to develop and improve their fundamental skills and become better baseball players. The campers will receive focused attention and specific instruction needed to improve their individual skills. Campers will be grouped by position to allow and ensure everyone makes the most of their time spent with our coaching staff. The YOUTH CAMP will be offered Saturday, January 7, 2017 for ages 9-13 and the cost is $30. The Youth Camp will cover specialized throwing and pitching mechanics, fundamentals of hitting, fielding form and techniques, baserunning footwork and a wiffle ball game. The PROSPECT CAMP will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 for ages 14-18 and will cost $35. The Prospect Camp will cover expert hitting instruction, video swing analysis, exit velocity readings as well as expert pitching and throwing instruction with video analysis (radar gun readings included!). Also expert fielding and catching instruction with individual game guidance, professional exercise techniques and drill work to maximize potential as well as baserunning form, footwork and professional speed/agility training. Both camps will have registration and check in at 8:00 am inside the Student Recreation Center on the Coos campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay, and will begin at approximately 9:00 am, lunch will be 12:00 pm-12:30 pm and the camp will conclude around 3:00 pm. Campers will need to bring baseball pants, hat, cleats, glove, bat, helmet and a lunch. Pre-registration is recommended, but will be accepted at the door each morning.
