News release SWOCC.  Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Small Business Development Center (Southwestern SBDC) is offering a three session training series that focuses on building an effective marketing strategy.  A common mistake small businesses make is to go out and spend lots of money on advertising without first identifying who the customers are and what they are interested in buying, the value proposition.  This series of classes will answer key marketing questions such as: “What is the best marketing mix to reach customers?” and “What does a brand say to customers?”  In this course participants will learn how to build a marketing plan that gets results and increases sales. The series will kick off on July 20, 2017 with “Renting Out Space”  The class will focus on the customer relationship arc and how marketing fits into it. On August 17, 2017 the focus is “Build Your Brand”.  Before you can determine where to effectively spend you marking dollars, you must have a clear understanding of both your customers and your value proposition to them. Finally, on September 21, 2017 the class will cover “Creating Marketing Campaigns That Work”.  In this session we will focus on creating campaigns (special emphasis on networking and sales process). Campaigns are where you make money from your marketing and sales efforts. The presenter for the series is Dr. Sean Harry.  Sean Harry works with small business owners to help them turn their dreams into reality. He is also known internationally for his work with small business advisors to help them better serve their clients. Sean’s background gives him a unique ability to help people bring together both the existential needs and the small business challenges of the 21st century.
