Southwestern’s Swim Teams Receive National Honors, April 28

Southwestern Oregon Community College would like to congratulate the following student-athletes on being named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All American Swimming and Diving First Team or receiving Honorable Mention by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA): Women: Kindra Jones (Honorable Mention), Brooke Leader (Honorable Mention). Men: Luis Carrillo (First Team), Wyatt Engler (First Team), Christian Kubo (First Team), Thomas Reams (First Team), Caleb Kyllo (Honorable Mention), Michael Michalski (Honorable Mention), Danniel Recinos (Honorable Mention). To be considered for All American First Team students must have placed in the top-4 in at least one event at that the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships, or 5-12 for Honorable Mention. Southwestern’s women’s team was named as a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Scholar All American Team for their performance in the classroom during fall term of last year. The entire women’s team, Brooke Leader, Brittany Banks, Hannah Croze and Kindra Jones, all had to have a 3.0 GPA or higher in order for the team to be considered for this award. Coach Sandra Bullock is proud of her team’s first season and says, “Our team motto was to strive for excellence in all we do.
