By 28-votes, a request for a new Coos Bay School District bond was approved by voters during a mail-in-ballot Special Election Tuesday night, Nov. 7.  According to an unofficial report from the Coos Co. Election’s Dept., the Yes vote tallied 3941 (50.18%), while the No’s totaled 3913 (49.82%).  There were 8604 ballots cast during the election.  A City of Lakeside Local Option Tax failed Tuesday 64.08% to 35.92%.  According to the Notice of Measure Election formed filed with the Election’s Dept., the Coos Bay School District was seeking $59,995,000 in bonds to “improve schools and classrooms, address safety, repairs and security.  The State had earlier agreed to contribute $4 million towards the improvement projects if the Bond Measure passed.
