Special Holiday Barn Dance in Greenacres, Dec. 13

On Saturday evening, December 14, the public is invited to a special holiday Barn Dance at the Greenacres Grange hall. Join us for three hours of lively light-hearted social dancing. A popular contra dance band, The Eugene Barnstormers, will fill the hall with great foot-stomping music from the US and abroad. The Barnstormers feature Paul Clements (fiddle), Ambo Daugherty (tenor banjo), John Wesley Messinger (guitar), and Shawn Lockery (fiddle). Come swing your partner to their wonderful music. Calling for our December dance will be Karen Olsen who is known for her clear and precise calling and her ability to create a warm and friendly event that can be enjoyed by both first-time dancers and more experienced dancers. No prior experience, special clothing, or partner is needed to enjoy the dance. A beginner’s workshop will be taught starting at 7pm. First timers who arrive in time for this instruction will receive a ticket for free admission to their second dance. The Second-Saturday Barn Dance is sponsored by the non-profit South Coast Folk Society. The program includes contras, circle mixers, a waltz or two, and squares. Refreshments are available. Doors open at 6:45PM. Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free. The dances are alcohol and fragrance free.
