Oregon beaches are ready for summer after nearly 5,100 volunteers helped clear the entire Oregon coast of trash at the annual SOLVE Spring Oregon Beach Cleanup, Saturday, March 28. Results from the effort are still rolling in, but it’s estimated that volunteers made the following improvements to the state’s beaches: Removed 62,500 pounds of litter and marine debris; Hauled away 47 tires. An Oregon tradition for 30 years, the twice-annual coast-wide beach cleanups have seen nearly 240,000 SOLVE volunteers remove an estimated 3.2 million pounds of trash from Oregon’s beaches since 1984.
