Steals Vehicle at Gunpoint, Nov. 15

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspect in a carjacking incident that occurred overnight in the 77000blk of Mosby Creek Rd. Just before midnight Friday morning, a citizen reported that he went to check on the occupant of a crashed vehicle. The driver of the crashed vehicle pointed a black gun at the citizen and stole the citizen’s blue 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup (pictured). The stolen truck is described as a quad-cab model with a blue matching canopy. It had Oregon Plate #351CGK on it at the time it was stolen. The stolen truck was last seen traveling southeast from the crash scene in the direction of Blue Mountain School Rd. Deputies and officers from the Cottage Grove Police Department quickly saturated the area but were unable to locate the suspect or stolen vehicle. The suspect is described as a white male adult in his twenties. He has a thin build and stands approximately 5’08”. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and jeans. The suspect in this case is to be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you observe the suspect and vehicle call 911. *UPDATE* 11/12/21 4:36PM – The suspect in this case has been identified and taken into custody. 22 year old Travis Scott Rich, a Cottage Grove area resident, will be lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including but not limited to: Robbery in the 1st Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
