Stolen Dog Recovered on Central Coast, June 9

News release from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Dept. On May 20, 2015, a Siletz resident reported her female dog was missing from the front of her residence. With help from the Siletz community, information was brought forward to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office that the dog had possibly been stolen, prompting an investigation. It was reported that two women were seen with the dog the day she was reported missing and through generous help of the Siletz Tribal Staff, two suspects were identified in the case. A Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office interviewed the suspects and was eventually able to locate the dog and reunite her with her family. This investigation is on-going while possible criminal charges are being reviewed. Theft of domestic pets is a Class C Felony in the State of Oregon. The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind animal owners, to please: • Identify pets with a license, microchip, and tag including name and phone number; • Watch your pets, even if they are in a fenced yard; • Always walk your pets on a leash; and, • If you find a lost pet, report it to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter at 541-265-6610 so they can be scanned for a microchip and efforts can be made to reunite them with their family.
