News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. Narrative: On February 28, 2016, at about 0815 hours Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a vehicle being stolen from Keonna Reid, a juvenile who lives in Coquille. Ms. Reid was reporting that Steven Nichols, 23 YOA, also of Coquille had stolen her vehicle, a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck from Powers County Park on February 27, 2016. Through the course of the investigation, the vehicle was located off of Crest Acres Road in Coquille, along with the suspect Steven Nichols. Mr. Nichols had forged a bill of sale showing the vehicle to be his, in the process, signing the victim’s name to it. Powers Police Department obtained a signed stolen for the vehicle. Steven Nichols was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, Identity Theft, Forgery I, Unlawful Possession of a Forged Instrument I and Driving While Suspended-Misdemeanor. Mr. Nichols who is on probation, was additionally held on a probation violation. Nichols was transported and lodged at the Coos County Jail. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Powers Police Department and the Coquille Police Department.
