CB release –  The City of Coos Bay will be replacing the public sanitary sewer system along South 10th Street. The contractor performing the work is Benny Hempstead Excavating Inc. Over the past two days, the City’s contractor has been saw cutting the road.  The cuts are in the wheel path.  As a result, there is a safety concern about allowing thru traffic on this road.  Therefore, the City has made the decision to close South 10th Street between Ingersoll and Johnson to thru traffic for the duration of the project.  The road will not be open on the weekends or evenings but local traffic will be allowed access.  It is anticipated that construction will be complete on Wednesday, August 8th.  Please exercise extreme caution when driving in the construction zone. There will be no on street parking in this portion of South 10th Street while the replacement is underway. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to please exercise caution within the construction zone and detour area. The Contractor will work with the affected home owners as needed. Any questions can be directed to Public Works, Engineering Division at 541-269-8918.
