News release CCSO. Between Wednesday, June 14, 2017 and Sunday, June 18, 2017, the Summerfest UTV Takeover was conducted out of Boxcar Campground, North Bend, Oregon which drew an estimated eight to twelve thousand attendees. During that time, your Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Oregon State Police Troopers patrolled the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area dunes complex. During the event 41 warnings were issued, 17 citations were issued and countless subjects were contacted in positive contacts during the event. Deputies handled all manner of calls ranging from lost property to loud parties to persons lost in the sand. There were four injury crashes over the event resulting in no loss of life. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oregon State Police, North Bay Fire Department, Hauser Fire Department, the United States Forest Service and Volunteer Dunes Patrol to make this event a success.
