Survey launches for disparity study, Dec. 2

ODOT release – We are committed to investing in locally owned businesses. SALEM – As part of our commitment to increasing the number of minority- and women-owned businesses contracting and performing work in local communities, ODOT has hired Keen Independent Research to conduct a disparity study. The firm will analyze the participation and availability of minority- and women-owned firms and other businesses for transportation contracts in Oregon. This disparity study will help ODOT operate the Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program and set a new three-year goal. It will also develop a list of potential contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants for future work. A key component of this study is identifying businesses available and interested in ODOT and local government contracts and subcontracts. Starting the week of Dec. 1, Keen Independent Research and its survey firm, Customer Research International, will contact businesses by phone to ask about their qualifications and interest in this work. Online surveys are also an option. Participation in this survey is greatly encouraged. Equity is one of the three priorities in ODOT’s 2021-2023 Strategic Action Plan. Investing equitably in the local economy by increasing opportunities for Oregon’s minority- and women-owned businesses makes our transportation system more aligned with the communities it serves.
