Coos County’s unemployment rate is at a five-year low according to the January 2014 South Coast Labor Trends newsletter produced by the Oregon Employment Dept. The November 2013 rate for Coos County was 8.9%, while in Curry Co. it was 9.7%. Both rates were less than the previous year. The publication also goes on to state that “Coos County total payroll employment rose by 120 jobs in November.” However, “Curry County payroll employment fell by 220 jobs over the month.” Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.3% in November.
