Sweeping begins to clean-up after the December 6 storm in Oregon, Dec. 17

After the December 6th snowstorm in Linn, Benton, Lincoln, and Lane Counties, ODOT crews are beginning the task of sweeping targeted highways and freeway on-ramps, in an effort to remove some of the nearly 5,000 cubic yards of sand used in those counties during the extreme weather event. The cleanup process is focused on some of the metro areas of the Central Willamette Valley and the heavily traveled areas of Hwy. 101, near Lincoln City. Special attention is paid to those highways that experience high bicycle/pedestrian activity. In addition, freeway ramps and higher elevation curves and bridges will also be swept during a cleanup that is expected to last at least two weeks. ODOT encourages motorists to drive with caution when traveling near the sweeping equipment, and give the equipment plenty of room to do the work. If multiple sweepers are working in tandem, please do not pass between the vehicles.
