Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) is celebrating 20 years of helping people in Curry County achieve their learning goals! On Monday, July 27, 2015 the Curry Campus in Brookings will host an open house for the community at 2:30 p.m. “We’re inviting our students, graduates, community supporters, faculty, and staff to celebrate this milestone and what it means for Curry County,” said Curry Campus Executive Dean Janet Pretti. Through the work and dedication of many people, Curry County was annexed into the College District by voters in May of 1995. The College began serving Curry County on July 1, 1995, offering both collegiate and community education classes across Curry County. Since joining the College District, 244 Curry residents have earned 238 two-year degrees and 69 certificates. Of the two-year degrees, 148 were transferable to four-year colleges allowing many students to earn bachelor’s degrees. “We’re helping people in Curry County reach for their dreams and when they achieve them, many of them stay in Curry County making it a better place,” explained Janet Pretti, Curry Campus Executive Dean. The College will also hold its July Board of Education meeting at the Curry Campus on July 27. The Open Session starts at 3:30 p.m. and is open to community members who are interested in attending the meeting. The Curry Campus is located four miles north of Brookings at 96082 Lone Ranch Parkway. Please call 541-813-1667 for further information or visit our website at www.socc.edu/curry.
