Southwestern Oregon’s women fell 98-71 at Umpqua CC north of Roseburg Wednesday in an NWAC game. Ricki Mock scored 16, Katelyn Rossback 15, Kaylie Vaughan 12, Jade Chavez 6, Riley Wahl 6, Sydney Smith 5, Tiare Sugui 4, Ashley Ensminger 4, Savannah Thurman 3. The Lakers (2-8, 10-13) next play at Clark College in Vancouver, WA Saturday. SWOCC’s men lost 93-82 to the Riverhawks. Garrett Stout scored 19, Davonta Price 13, Mike Fesser Jr. 12, Jake Lucero 12, Duke Mitchell 10, Erik Johnson 9, Cameron Lucero 4, Ivan Harper 3.Southwestern’s men (5-5, 11-12) will also next play at Clark College Saturday.

Southwestern Swim Teams Achieve Scholar All-American Status
Southwestern Oregon Community College Athletics is proud to announce that both the men’s and women’s swim teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-Americans. The awards are in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015 Fall Term. The Southwestern swim team is one of only two teams nationally to receive the honor at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) level. The CSCAA is the oldest organization of college coaches in America and is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level. The men’s swim team at Southwestern had a 3.39 GPA in the fall term while the women’s team had a 3.26. The teams are currently training for the NJCAA Championship which will take place March 2-5, 2016 in Fort Pierce, FL. Coach Bullock is extremely proud of the teams’ academic success this year and had this to say on their achievements, “I am very pleased with the team’s efforts. The team set out to achieve a greater level of success in the classroom this year and, thus far, they have done just that. It is a testament to their desire to build a program of excellence.”
