Southwestern Oregon’s men clinched a playoff spot in the upcoming NWAC Basketball Championships with a season-ending 77-75 win at Portland CC Saturday. The Lakers (10-6, 18-11) finish the regular season tied with Linn Benton (10-6, 15-14) for second-place behind South champion Clackamas (13-3, 21-8). SWOCC’s women (3-13, 7-20) lost their final game at Portland CC Saturday 61-51. SWOCC’s baseball team split a four-game series with visiting Blue Mtn. Friday and Saturday at Coos Bay. The visitors from Pendleton won the first two games Friday 4-3 & 8-7, while the Lakers won the next two on Saturday 10-3 & 9-1. Southwestern (7-3) is scheduled to play at Clackamas (3-5), Oregon City, Thursday, March 9. The Laker softball team won three-out-of-four in Washington State this past weekend. Southwestern downed Edmonds Saturday 3-1 at Bellevue College, and then beat Bellevue 5-2. On Saturday, lost to Edmonds 6-3, but beat Bellevue in the second game 2-0. The Lakers (9-2) head to the Treasure Valley CC Tournament at Ontario, OR, Friday, March 1-, noon, vs. Treasure Valley.
