SWOCC Track Results from the Ice Breaker
Brad Ferner ran the NWAC Qualifying standard in the Men’s 10,000 meter run on Friday night at the Eric Anderson Ice Breaker track & Field meet at Linfield College in McMinnville. According to Laker Coach Dan Neal, Ferner ran the distance in 33:54 with the NWAC qualifying standard at 34:34. Ferner is the first Laker to qualify directly into the NWAC Track Championships to be held this May. Wilson Hodge placed 6th in the men’s Shot Put with a throw of 43’ 6 ½ “ he also placed 7th in the Discus with a throw of 131 feet . Both marks were very close to the NWAC Qualifying standards. Lincoln Newdall was 7th in the Men’s shot right behind Hodge with a throw of 43’ 1”. The Women’s 4 X 100 Relay team of Hannah Smith, Courtney May, Brittney Miller and Stormy Silver placed 6th with a time of 53.06. Stormy Silver tied for 9th in High Jump with a jump of 4’ 8”. Grace Herman was 13th in the Javelin with a throw of 110’ 5”. The Lakers will be at the Saints Open this weekend at Mt Hood Community College in Gresham.
