Southwestern Oregon’s softball team closed out the NWAC regular season with a sweep of visiting Clark College from Vancouver, WA. The Lakers won both games in five innings, 16-1 & 14-0. SWOCC (14-6, 31-9) finished tied for second place in the South Region with Mt. Hood (14-6, 29-9). Clackamas (16-4, 32-8) took first. Southwestern advances to the NWAC Softball Championships at Delta Park in Portland May 15-18.

SWOCC Track results from Southern Region Championships at Mt Hood CC Saturday in Gresham. The Laker Track team won four events and was second in two others. On the woman’s side Talisha Dozier won the Long Jump at 17’ 6” and teammate Katie Pitts was 5th at 16’ 3”. Katie Pitts won the Triple Jump at 35’ 6” and Hannah Smith was sixth at 33’ 11”. Rachael Huffman won the Shot Put at 39’ 5” and was second in the Discus at 123’ 6” and Taylor Gorringe was seventh at 101’ 3”. The Women’s 4 X 100 Relay team of Rachael Broyals, Courtney May, Helene Sink and Talisha Dozier was third at 51.60. On the Men’s side Riley Greenfield was the surprise winner of the Men’s High Jump at 6’ 4”. The Lakers were without their standout Hurdler Brooks Ney after he sustained an injury the night before running the 110 Hurdles at the Oregon Twilight. Ney was picked to win the 110 Hurdles and place second in the 400 IM hurdles. Paul Harlow had a great day at the Pole Vault jumping a season best at 14’ 11” taking second place in the event. Wilson Hodge was third in the Shot Put at 44’ 7”. The Lakers will travel to Spokane WA this week for the NWAC Track Championships.
