Southwestern Oregon at the NWAACC Track & Field Championships. Laker Coach Dan Neal reports they had one All American in Nikki Iaulualo-Puaa in the women’s Shot Put where she placed 2nd with a throw of 41’ 6 1/2 “. The lady Lakers went 5th, 6th and 7th in Discus where McKenzie DeVault placed 5th at 120’ 1” and teammate Rachael Huffman placed 6th at 118’ and Nikki Iaulualo-Puaa was 8th at 115’8”. either Devault (135’) or Iaulualo-Puaa (133’)would have thrown their season best they would have been All-American. Jasmine Meline ran a 2:22 in the 800 to place 5th. The Lakers 4 X 100 relay was 7th running a 54.38, the team consisted of Caitlyn Robison, Natasha Hill, Kathryn Pitts and Kayla Tripp. On the men’s side it is not what we had hoped for at this year’s NWAACC Track and Field Championships. The Lakers were without Paul Harlow that was one of the leaders in the Pole Vault. Harlow pulled a hamstring during the warm ups at the Southern Region Championships last week and was unable to compete at this year’s Championships. Eric Jordan had a 2 foot PR in Shot Put to place 7th in the event with a throw of 45’ 6”. Jovenn Pacheco placed 9th in Discus at 131’ 3”. The Men’s Relay team was without two of its regular runners and ran a 46.87. The team was Brandon Gannon, Tim Crawford, Israel Moses and Steeple Chase specialist Zach Hammond and the placed 8th.
