Chemeketa beat Southwestern Oregon 3-2 (22-25, 28-26, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10), Friday in an NWAC volleyball match at Salem. On Saturday, the Lakers (1-4, 11-7) fell to Linn Benton 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-21) in Albany. SWOCC will host a Crossover Tournament Friday and Saturday in Coos Bay. Southwestern’s men’s soccer team lost to South Puget Sound 3-0 on Saturday in Coos Bay. The Lakers (0-10-0, 3-10-0) play at Pierce College Wednesday. Lane defeated SWOCC’s women 5-0 Saturday in Eugene. The Lakers (1-9-2, 2-11-2) travel to Pierce College Wednesday. The Laker Cross Country team had a lot better weather to run in this past weekend at Clackamas Community College inOregon City compared to the 80 degree day at Willamette University in Salem last week. Coach Dan Neal says every Laker improved their overall time for their individual race. On the Men’s side Brad Larsen was the top runner for SWOCC running a 30:15 for the 5 mile race. Larson was followed by Mason Smith at 30:49 with Riley Greenfield coming in at 35:14 and Marcus Gaboldon running a 36:06. On the Women’s side Alexis Crellin ran a 21:36 in the 5000 Meter race with Carleen Fall running a 22:12. Fall was followed by Ramey gerke at 23:09 and Melissa Ortiz running a 24:21. The Lakers will run the same course in two weeks when Clackamas hosts the Southern Region Championships on October 25th.
