At the Lower Columbia Crossover Tournament in Longview, WA Friday, Southwestern Oregon’s volleyball team fell to Tacoma 2-0 (25-13, 25-22), fell to Everett 2-0 (25-19, 25-19), on Saturday, SWOCC lost to Lower Columbia 2-0 (25-18, 25-22) and Linn-Benton 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-6). The Lakers (1-5, 12-18) host Clackamas and Mt. Hood Friday and Saturday in Coos Bay.

Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Cross Country team ran at the Mike Hodges Invitational at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City Saturday. Laker Coach Dan Neal’s report. WOW what a great weekend for the Laker Men’s Cross Country this weekend at the Mike Hodges invite. The Lakers placed 4th out of 7 teams. All the Southern Region teams we competing in the event. Almost every athlete ran a season best and many of those ran Personal Bests. The Lakers average team time was 27:08 for the 5 mile race is the fastest team average of Dan Neal’s tenure as SWOCC,s Cross Country Coach. The Lakers were led by Jesus De Leon’s 26:08 for 7th place followed by Ferner’s 14th place at 26:34. Coming in3rd for the Lakers was David Flores at 27:11 in 25th place. Mason Smith was 36th at 27:51 and teammate Colby Gillett was 37th at 28:00. Austin Hutchins ran a PR of 28:10 and placed 40th. On the Women’s team Alexis Crellin had a goal of running in the 21 minute range and ended up running a 20:54 and a personal best. Kennedy Pendergrass was the next Laker runner with a 22:36 and placed 52nd with Stephanie Gouveia placing 55th with a time of 23:36 also a season best. The Lakers will run next at the Southern Region Championships sponsored be Clackamas CC on October 30 on the same course. Full results can be found on the NWAC,s web page Men’s.
