Southwestern Oregon swept a pair of NWAC volleyball matches at home this past weekend. The Lakers beat Clackamas CC on Friday 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-20). On Saturday, SWOCC beat Mt. Hood CC 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-15). Southwestern (4-5, 15-18) is in the third place in the NWAC South behind Chemeketa (8-0, 32-2), and Linn-Benton (6-2, 31-6). With four matches remaining in the regular season, the Lakers will host their final home match Friday, Oct. 30, against Clark College of Vancouver, WA. Southwestern’s men’s soccer team lost to Chemeketa on Wednesday, but the Lakers downed Rogue CC on Saturday in Coos Bay 2-0 behind first-half goals by Graham Hatten and Anthony Krening. SWOCC’s women downed Rogue 8-0 also in Coos Bay with six first half goals by Ashley Ensminger, Jamie Cook, Josie Child, Athena Farr, Kelsey Gorman and Josie Child. Caelan Kern and Crystal Rodriquez scored goals in the second half. The women, with two away matches remaining in the regular season, are in fifth place (4-6-0, 4-9-1) in the NWAC South. SWOCC plays at Clackamas Wednesday and Portland Saturday. The men are in third place (5-4-1, 6-7-2) and will also wrap up their regular season schedule this week with matches at Clark College in Vancouver, WA Wednesday and then at Portland Saturday, Halloween.
