SWOCC Track Debut, March 4

Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Track team had a great start to their 2014 season at the Linfield Eric Anderson Ice Breaker this Saturday. The term Ice Breaker was in full effect as the weather was very cold and wet.  There were 15 college teams participating and several open and unattached athletes.  The Lakers qualified 5 athletes in 6 Events to the NWAACC Track Championships in May.  Zach Hammond won the Men’s 3000 Meter Steeple Chase in a time of 9:57. Jasmine Meline was 3rd in the women’s 800 running a qualifying time of 2:27 and also placed 4th in the 1500 with another qualifying time of 5:08.15. Jovann Pacheio qualified in the Men’s Discus with a throw of 130’ 6”. Nikki Iaulualo-Pauu placed 3rd in the Woman’s Shot with a qualifying throw of 38’ 11” and teammate Rachael Huffman was 8th at 35’ ½” .  Kylee Bruder was the 5th Laker to qualify with a jump of 4’ 10” in the High Jump where she tied for 3rd place.  Other outstanding performances were achieved in women’s Discus by McKenzie Devault   who placed 4th with a throw of 116’ 0” and just missing the qualifying standard of 118’. Teammate Nikki Iaulualo-Pauu was 5th at 110’ 0” and Rachael Huffman was 6th at 109’ 10”. Tim Crawford placed 7th in the Triple Jump at 40’ 0” and 8th in the Long Jump at 20’ 3”.  Eric Jordan placed 8th in Men’s Shot throwing 42’ 11 ¾ “ and Kyle Seals was 8th in Javelin at 156’ 3”.  Paul Harlow was 6th in Pole Vault at 11’ 11 ¾ “.  The women’s 4 X 100 relay team of Caitlyn Robison, Natasha Hill, Kylee Bruder and Kayla Tripp placed   4th at 46.97 and the Men ran a 46.96 with Brandon Gannon, Levi McDonald, Israel Mosses and Alfred Johnson.
